Intelligent technology companies within the region generate more than $9B in revenues and Waterloo is committed to continuing to build a connected and informed community in conjunction with its key business and community partners, helping the City back up its commitment to reinforcing its standing as one of the Top 7 Intelligent Communities.  The City works closely with Communitech, Waterloo region's IT advocacy and business development group to strengthen local intelligent technology industries and create a sense of community awareness about the benefits that can be gained from commitment to this sector.

Canada's Technology Triangle, the economic development corporation that promotes the region, hosts workshops to bring investment into the community, helping investors commit to Waterloo region technology companies and achieve tremendous value from their investments.

A combined $1.8B was spent to acquire local technology companies over the past ten years and Real Growth Domestic Product in Canada's Technology Triangle grew at a faster rate than that of the Province of Ontario.

TechCapital Partners, a Waterloo-based venture capital company, launched a $50M fund in the summer of 2005 with investment from outside the community to finance local start-up companies and it predicts that this will lead to an estimated additional $200M in investments in the years to come.
